American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (8 Hour MOUD Course Via PCSS)
Please note that all training/modules/webinars on PCSS covering topics on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders will count towards the DEA’s new 8 hour training requirement when applying for or renewing your DEA license.
American Academy of Physician Assistants (Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS): 8 Hour Online Buprenorphine Training)
This is an 8 hour training course for physicians and physician assistants who wish to prescribe buprenorphine to treat opioid use disorder (OUD). This training will satisfy the 8 hour training requirement mandated by the MATE Act.
American Association of Nurse Practitioners (Opioid Trainings)
The link takes you to the AANP website page that lists eleven training options that are available on demand or as multi-modules, ranging from 0.85 hours to 24 hours of credit. Five of the courses have a fee, whereas the others appear to be free of charge.
American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act)
A list of AAOMS’s current CE online offerings that appear to count toward the eight hours required by the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act. For a limited time, AAOMS Members can register for all of the eligible courses complimentary as a member benefit. American Dental Association (Prescribing Controlled Substances)
This is the third of a three-part series hosted by the ADA and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). This course provides an overview of what the DEA expects from Dentists when prescribing. It includes some basic information, new information on regulations, and case studies concerning dental controlled substance prescribing practices.
American Medical Association (Substance Use Disorders and Addiction Education to Meet New DEA Requirements)
In the AMA Ed Hub, satisfy the new, one-time eight-hour training requirement issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to meet the conditions of the MATE Act for all registered practitioners on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. CME activities listed on this page can be taken in any combination to fulfill the eight-hour requirement.
American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation
In partnership with Purdue University College of Pharmacy, Office of Continuing Education, and funding from the Employers Forum of Indiana and the Amerisource Bergen Foundation, Overdose Lifeline has developed CE courses and a 20-hour certificate program on Addiction / Substance Use Disorder with an Opioid Specialization.
American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine
AOAAM is offering programs that meet the new one-time, eight-hour training requirement for all Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)-registered practitioners on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders as enacted in Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023.
American Psychiatric Association (Buprenorphine Prescriber Training)
The 8-hour opioid or other substance use disorders training activities below (along with the other pathways) meet the Federal training requirement of the 2022 Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act. Completion will allow qualified physicians to apply for a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) initial registration or renewal registration on or after June 27, 2023. Physicians will be required to check a box on their online DEA registration affirming they completed the training requirement. The one-time training requirement affirmation will not be a part of future registration renewals.

Drug Overdose Death Rates (NIDA)
The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention collects information on deaths involving drugs commonly associated with fatal overdose. This information is available in a searchable database called CDC Wonder. The NCHS also provides 12-month-ending Provisional Drug Overdose Death Counts by state and drug category.
