General Tips for Conference Presentation & Poster Abstracts

  • Review the conference's instructions on submitting an abstract for a poster or presentation proposal and note specific abstract format, submission guidelines, and due dates. 
  • Review guidance on writing abstracts for conference submissions (see examples below). 
  • If available, review previously submitted meeting abstracts and final posters/presentations.
  • Get feedback on abstract draft before submitting.

MAHEC Poster and Presentation Templates:

How to cite your presentation slides

**All images (photos, cartoons, charts, graphs, etc) must be 1) in the public domain, 2) have licenses that permit sharing (such as Creative Commons), or 3) have explicit permission from the copyright or license holder. Graphics from academic articles (even if they're open access) require permissions to copy and redistribute.
